THE ART OF HENNA

Henna (Lawsonia Inermis) is a flowering plant that grows in Egypt, Morroco, India, Pakistan, Yemen...

Henna as a tradition has been used for centuries during special events such as wedding or religious ceremonies.

The Henna paste is applied on the hands and feet of the bride during the "Night of the Henna", prior to the wedding day.

It is also used to dye the hair in many countries as of today.

THE MEHNDI

Mehndi is derived from the Sanskrit word mendhikā.

The use of mehndi and turmeric is described in the earliest Hindu Vedic ritual books.

It was originally used for only women's palms and sometimes for men, but as time progressed, it was more common for women to wear it.

Mehndi in Indian tradition is typically applied during special Hindu weddings and Hindu festivals like Karva ChauthVat PurnimaDiwaliBhai Dooj and Teej.

PREPARATION OF THE HENNA PASTE

The preparation of the henna has been a secret among henna artists for a long time. As for myself I have learnt the recipe from my Grandmother during a trip in Morroco in 1994 when I was 11 years old.

Only Natural ingredients are needed to make the paste but most of all a high quality organic henna.

I always prepare fresh henna for the day of the event.

NAÏMA HENNA IS 100% NATURAL

Naïma Henna is using only Body Art Quality Henna that is:

100% natural and certified organic.

The henna last on the hands and feet between 1 week and 14 days, depending of the skin and the design.

The henna paste must be left on the hand at least 6 hours to achieve a nice dark stain and avoid water and soap the next 48 hours (if possible).
